Under the series Erotics in Kalidasa will be presented the first ever study of the seven world famous works of Dipasikha Kalidasa with reference to Erotics in ten volumes. The present is the third volume entitled ‘Samprayoga (Experiencing Bliss)’ which comprises the novel and the first ever study of samprayoga, the art of love-making, accomplished with reference to the greatest Sanskrit poet Kavikulaguru Dipasikha Kalidasa. This study is divided into two stabakas. The first stabaka subdivided into eight puspas deals with the sastric and technical analysis of the following eight items of samprayoga: Experiencing Bliss in Union: 1. Alingana (Aslesa) (Embrace), 2. Cumbana (Kissing), 3. Nakhaksata (Nailmarks), 4. Dantaks ata (Amorous Biting), 5. Samvesana 9Enjoying together), 6. prahanana (Slapping), 7. Sitkrta (Manita) (Moaning or Inarticulate Sounds) and 8. Purusayita (Reverse Position). The second stabaka divided into seven Puspas (each Puspa is further divided into two to eight Pallavas) presents an exhaustive and critical study of the illustrations of the abovementioned eight items (divided intro numerous varieties) from the seven renowned works of the Kavikulasiromani Dipasikha Kalidasa which are full of hundreds of beautiful pictures of erotics painted here and there. At the end are appended Samskrta-Granthoddhrta-samprayogabodhaka-padyanukaramanika, Kalidasa-granthoddhrta-samprayogabodhakapadyanukramanika, Kalidasagranthoddhrtasampra- yoganukramanika, Bibliography and text. This volume is presented to a great doyen of Sanskrit and Indology Prof. Ramaranjan Mukherjee, on the auspicious occasion of his 80th birth anniversary.
