ABOUT THE AUTHOR Karubaki Datta

Dr. Karubaki Datta studied History is Visva Bharati, Santiniketan and Calcutta University, Kolkata. She has contributed research papers to journals, volumes and seminars. Her areas of interest include society and culture, refugees, ethnic groups and economic history of the HImalayan states. She has co-edited the book Religion and Society of the Himalayas with Dr. T.B. Subba. At present she is Reader and Director of the Centre for Himalayan Studies, North Bengal University.
