This collection of essays is a contribution in the emering field of medical anthropology in India. It deals with issues of ethics, health and medicine from an anthropological perspective. The contributors are mostly anthropologists who have presented their fieldwork-based research. Ethical issues arising in the context of medical pluralism in India, ethno-medicine, globalization and its impact and consequences on health and their ethical issues, the health problems of the poor and the marginlized, ethical issues relating to reproductive health and sexuality and other medical-ethical issues such as emergency care and ethics in disaster contexts are the focus of the essays. Some essays reflect on ethical issues arising in diverse fieldwork contexts.
