ABOUT THE AUTHOR Renuka Ram

Mrs. Renuka Ram is a social activist and researcher. She earned her Masters' degree in Sociology and Social Work from Lucknow University. After a brief stint at teaching, she was associated with her husband, a key functionary of a leading voluntary Organisation and travelled extensively in backward and tribal areas of the country. Currently she is in Australia pursuing her doctoral research in the filed of women studies. She has participated in many national and international seminars, where she presented learned research papers. Her areas of interest are social work and women studies. This is her first major published work besides many research papers in different professional journals.
