The title of the present volume itself is self explanatory about its contents: Faith healing among Muslims has its own historical roots and maintains its continuity, even in the modern age of science and technology. The study deals with the specific features of faith healing, body postures as prescribed in Quran and other Islamic literature and absolute devotion to the supreme being not only gets social sanction in the age of rationality but over rules most of the scientific and objective limitations. The different patterns, modes and styles in the processes of religious worship in Islam help in maintaining the proper psychosomatic order of the society and therefore it constitutes a major scope of the study in the area of sociology of faith. Chapter 4 and 5 interpret the health status and prevailing medical pluralism in the community. Chapter 6 is concerned with specific presentations of Islamic health healing practices and chapter 7 is over all presentation of emerging continuity scenario of faith healing vis-a-vis modern therapeutic practices.
