Agricultural extension is the backbone for rapid rural development through profitable agriculture especially to the rural poor in the developing world. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Shyam Ranjan Kumar Singh

Shyam Ranjan Kumar Singh was born on 7th January, 1973 at Mehda Shahpur, Begusarai (Bihar_. Presently, heis working as scientist (Agricultrual Extension) in the Social Science Section at Vivekananda Parvatiya Krishi Anusandhan Sansthan (ICAR), Almore. he obtained his Bachelor Degree in Agriculture from Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Banaras Hindu Univeristy, Varanasi (U.P.) in 1997. he Completed his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Dairy Extension at National Dairy Research Institute, Karnall (Haryana) during 1999 and 2002, respectively. He topped in agricultural Research Service Examination conducted during 1999 in Agricultural Extension discipline and joined service in 2002 at VPLAS, Almore. He received merit scholarship during B.Sc. (Ag), Junior research fellowship in M.Sc. (Dairying), and Senior Research Fellowship during Ph.D. at NDRI, Marnal. The author has published 13 research articles in reputed journals. Persently he is engaged in Research and Extension in hills with speical emphasis on horticultural crops.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Sujeet Kumar Jha

Sujeet Kumar Jha was born on 19th September, 1966 at Baraur, Madhubani (Bihar). Presently , he is a Senior Scientist (Agricultural Extension) and faculty member in the Division of Dairy Extension, National dairy Research Institute, Karnal. He completed his B.Sc. (Ag. & A.H.) and M.Sc. (Agricultural Communication and Extension) at GBPUA & T, Pantnagar. He obtained Ph.D. (Extension Education) from IVRI, Izatnagar, Bareilly (U.P). He was recipient of UNDP-ICAR Fellowship during P.G. and Institute SRF during Ph.D. programme. He joined ARS (Agricultural Research Service) in 1919 Batch, and has around eleven years of experience in Research, Teaching and Extension. So far, he has guided four M.Sc. students and published around 40 reseaerch/popular articles in the reputed journals. He has handled two research projects as Principal Investigator, and was associated with prestigiuos projects like Indo-Sdwiss Project, NATP/IVLP, ets. Besides, he has also contributed as Referee for five pristigious journals. He is a life Member of ISEE, ISAPM, AND SEE.
