The charge of a district is the most challenging assignment in the career of a police officer. He heads a large police force and supervises its day-to-day functioning. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Trinath Mishra
Dr. Trinath Mishra joined the Indian Police Service in 1966. He was allotted to U.P. cadre where he worked in various capacities in field as well as on staff. As a field officer he was in-charge of some of the most criminal and communally sensitive districts like Bulandshahr, Azamgarh, Meerut and Varanasi. He successfully handled a number of communal, agrarian and industrial problems. As a supervisory officer also he was assigned the task of looking after similar ranges of Moradabad, Allahabdad and Meerut. He also successfully managed the Allahabad Kumbh Mela of 1977. He served in various central police organizations also on deputation. He worked in the C.B.I. as a Superintendent of Police, the Special Director and the director. He was the Chief of Special Protection Group, SVP National Police Academy, the Central Industrial Security Force and the Central Reserve Police Force. He also served in the insurgency-afficted state of Manipur as DGP. Dr. Mishra has been decorated with Police Medal for Gallantry, Police Medal for Meritorious Services and President's Police Medal for Distinguished services. He has written a number of books and articles in Hindi as well as in English. Kumbh Gatha (Hindi), Yukti or Police Tactics (Hindi) Introduction to Explosives (English/Hindi), Preliminary Investigation of Unnatural Death Cases (Hindi) Suraksha Evam Sanraksha (Hindi) are some of his published works.
