Justice V. R. Krishna Iyer was appointed to the Supreme Court in 1973 where he played an important role in judicial activism, public interest litigation, affirmative action trough courts and a wide ranging exercise of judicial review. Honoured with several awards, he is the only judge on whom three doctoral theses have been written by scholars in different universities.
