In this book we have attempted to consider women’s rights to equality in Nepal from a jurisprudential perspective. We have honestly analyzed the issues, and have examined the judgments of the Supreme Court in relation to women. Many of our discourses might not be pleasant reading for some people, but we believe that everyone must accept their reality. What we have to understand is that we cannot be ruled by norms and values set forth twenty five centuries ago in issues regarding women, where we have chosen to make changes in so many other spheres. Thus we have to bring about change in our behaviour. While writing this book, we had few differences of opinion. The differences that arose had nothing to do with myself being a man, and Geeta being a woman, nor our relation as husband and wife. They have come about from our areas of specialization. We think such differences are usual and useful, and should not be suppressed. Overall, writing this book has been a unique experience for us both. We will keep working together in days to come.
