The volume makes an attempt to showcase the times of the famous Urdu poet Mirza Ghalib (1797 -1869). Through pictures, it captures the important events, places and personalities of the time especially in the context of their relation to or association with Ghalib. It includes paintings such as portraits of royal personalities and sketches of monuments such as the Lal Qila and places like Agra, Hyderabad and Delhi of that time. A focus is on the 1857 Revolt and the pillage of Delhi and the terror unleashed upon its inhabitants by the British. It throws light on the life of the poet and his contemporaries. The beautiful illustrations are accompanied by their description in Urdu text as well as its English translation.
