ABOUT THE AUTHOR Deepti Omchery Bhalla
Deepti Omchery Bhalla is an accomplished artist both in classical Dance and Music. In Music she has had the privilege of learning Music and Dance from great masters like Vidwan T.S. Raghavan, Prof T.N. Krishnan and Dagar brothers. A gold medalist in B.A. (Music), Deepti also had the distinction of topping the Delhi University in M. Phil. (Music). A recepient of UGC scholarship and fellowship in music and Delhi State Academy Scholarship in Dance, she has several awards and trophies to her credit. Deepti is a senior grade artise both in Dance and Music. She was sponsored by the Government of India to visit U.S.S.R for performing at the Festival of India in 1987. She has travelled extensively in Singapore, Egypt, Japan and Malaysia during recitals all over.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Leela Omchery
DR. Leela Omchery Born in the year 1929 in K.K. District, Tamil Nadu, Dr. Mrs. Leela Omchery is the wife of Prof. Omchery N.N. Pillai, started learning Music and Dance from her childhood with her brother Sri. K. Purushothaman, the famous playback singer and classical musician of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. After graduating from the University of Kerala with music, she came to Delhi in 1951. She joined theDelhi University, first as a student and then as an University appointed Research Scholar and Teacher from 1964 onwards, in the Faculty of Music and Fine Arts. Presently she is working as an Associate Professor in the above Department. Dr. Omchery has to her credit about 85 published articles on Music and Allied Arts. She is also the author of more than twelve books, most of them got Government of India award in 1957. Engaged in substantial Resarch work. Dr. Omchery is deeply connected with many cultural organisations of Delhi where she has contributed substantially. She is also a member of the expert committees of UPSC, UGC, IHR, and IGNA. etc.
