To understand the concept of European History, we must have a comprehensive account of the subject to provide a handy and reliable source of information. Compiling a book of this type is not an easy task. Elementary questions are usually far more arduous to tackle. The selection of topics for this book was difficult and many individuals and incidents have been omitted, though reluctantly. This compilation also contains a list of maps, chronology of significant dates, and chief European Rulers covering the period (1450-1945) as Appendix I, II, and III. Interpretations of all relevant historical events in this book have been taken into consideration. Due effort has been made to use expressions precisely and judiciously. The present work is intended to provide an aid to study this book will be of immense value to the students, academicians and general readers and will serve as a ready reference to the lovers of history.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Abha Trivedi
Abha Trivedi is a Reader in the department of Western History, University of Lucknow, India. She holds Master's Degree from the university of Lucknow. She was awarded Culture, Government of India for securing high position in High school in the list of meritorious candidates from Uttar Pradesh in 1977 and is also aecipient of National scholarship on the merit of B.A. (Final) examination of 1981. She joined her Alma mater as lecturer in western History in 1991. She obtained Ph.D. degree from the university of Lucknow. She was contributed over a dozen research papers and articles in various journals and newsletters of repute. She has also been invited to deliver popular lectures in Environmental History at U.G.C. sponsored "Refresher Courses". Dr. trivedi, an I.C.H.R. (Indian Council of Historical research) fellow and U.G.C. -N.E.T. awardee, is associated with many professional organizations, academic bodies and societies, viz., The U.P. History Congress, The Indian science Congress association and The Indian History Congress as a Life Member and active researcher.
