Gram Sabha: Perspectives and Challenges

Gram Sabha is the basic potential unit of self governance and it is the most effective forum for involving people in planning, implementing and monitoring the programmes at the grassroots level. The greater challenge is to facilitate the actual exercise of participatory democracy through creative and resolute use of legal provisions through massive mobilization, political education and capacity building. The present book is the first empirical study conducted on the working of Gram Sabha and the role of the players in rural democracy for rural development, social and human development.
