ABOUT THE AUTHOR Debendra Kumar Das

Dr. Debendra Kumar Das, presently Vice-President of Indian Economic Association, is Professor in the University Department of Economics, B.R.A. Bihar University, Muzaffarpur, Bihar. His field of specialization is Money, International Trade, Growth and Development Models. Dr. Das is associated with the academic activities of Indian Economic Association for nearly three decades as its life member. He acted as Rapporteur (1992) and as Discussant (1994). He was also the member of executive committee for two consecutive terms i.e. fro 1995 to 2001 and in December 2001 at Vellore in its 84th Annual Conference of IEA, he was elected Vice-President. He contributed a number of “Theme Papers” to several national and international seminars organized by important economic institutions as well as IEA Trust for Research and Development, New Delhi. He chaired one of the technical sessions on ‘Globalization and Agricultural Crisis in India’ in the 84th annual conference of IEA (December 2001) at Vellore. Dr. Das has been a regular contributor to several national and international economic journals and a number of research students have obtained their Ph.D. Degrees under his supervision. He has to his credit a number of both written and edited books including Inflation in Indian Economy Under Five Year Plans (1986), SAARC, Regional Co-operation and Development: Perspectives, Problems, Policies (1992), Development Paradigms: Indian Development Experience (1992), Economics of Markets: Theory and Evidence (1993), Structural Adjustment in the Indian Economy (Two Vols.)
