The tradition of guru and disciple is very old in India. The position of guru is considered even higher than that of God. Man acquires worldly knowledge by guru and it is guru again who gives him awareness about how to realize God. Saintly and devotional literatures are precious heritage of our country. On the one hand, this literature is foundation of our future and life, and on the other hand, it is the messenger of unity, friendship, simplicity, and tolerance amidst conflicts, struggle, malice, and agonies of the physical world. Absorbed in perseverance and devotion, saintly and devotional poets were not only singing about emancipation, Brahma, illusion, and the supreme soul but also touched various aspects of life and the world, and preached man about new resolves, dutifulness, and about following a noble path.
