The book attempts to analyse the attitudes of Harijan students towards higher castes and social institutions; their self-concept, the direction and the level of their aspirations based on an intensive socio-psychological study of Harijan students in India. The study reveals that Harijans live in an environment where the impressions of castes on their minds mould their behaviour pattern. They are exposed to prejudices resulting in frustration and inferiority complex. The investigations of this study would provide a dependable basis for realistic planning for the upliftment of Harijans in India.
