Before you begin with this compilation of 33 poems, I would like to acknowledge that most of them are iterations echoing, what I’d like to call a sentiment – a sentiment of resilience, endurance, survival, existence, which has been assimilated and reflected into every fibre of my being and hence, my words.
Kashmir, my motherland, has given me vignettes incessantly, so profound and overwhelming, that I couldn’t help but write about them. This book in all its entirety, is dedicated to my people, my brethren, my mouj Kasheer, who are embodiment of Faiz’s“Sham-e-firaqab na pooch ayi aur aake tal gayi, dil tha ki fir behal gaya, jaan thi ki fir sambhalgayi.” (Ask not of the night of separation; it came, and it passed away. My heart found a way to please itself again; life found a way to get back on track again.
