Heat and Thermodynamics

The present publication is divided into sixteen chapters covering Thermal Equilibriumand Zeroth Law; Temperature and its Measurement; First Law of Thermodynamics and its Application; Isothermal and Adiabatic Processes; Real Gases-Van der Waals’ Equation of State; Production of Very Law Temperature; Second Law of Thermodynamics (Heat Engines); Change of State: Clausius Clapeyron Equation; Kinetic Theory; Transport Phenomenon; Distribution of Molecular Speeds and Brownian Motion; Specific Heat of Solids: Quantum Theory: Entropy; Maxwell’s Thermodynamic Relations and Their Applications; Radiation; and Heat Conduction. In physics, numerical problems form a very important place, therefore, a large number of solved examples have been included in each chapter so that the students can easily understand the theory used in solving the problem. The exercise at the end of each chapter contains a large number of questions including numerical problems and these are mainly selected from question papers of different Universities.
