Manipur State is a wonderful land, a land of talented Meithes and tribes who live in the lap of nature full of beauty. The land is blessed with herbs, in many case rare herbs which was used by the local doctors the ‘Maibas’ and the ‘Maibis’ for generations. Though it was not possible to get information on all the herbs available in this tiny land, a humble attempt has been made to highlight few selected herbs available in Manipur giving details of virtues, application and analysis. Book covers more than 500 species in 305 chapters giving reference of modern science, ancient Indian scriptures and folklore application. In annexure details of hereditary diseases and diet according to day has been discussed taking into consideration both traditional belief and scientific analysis. The book certainly will be helpful to scholars of various discipline, medical practioners and even for common man.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR G K Ghosh
He is graduated in Chemical Engineering from Regional Engineering College, Rourkella. After graduation served number of organizations like Hindustan Lever Ltd., I.B.P Co. Ltd., Konark Detergents and Soaps Ltd., and finally joined Khadi & Village Industries Commission as director in the year 1982 retiring as Joint Chief Executive Officer in the year 2008. after retirement he was made member and chairman respectively of two important committees of Ministry of Science & Technology. He is also working with two rural based groups to develop environment friendly rural industrialization. He has presented more than 40 papers in Anthropology in various sessions of Indian Science Congress. More than 80 articles in various subjects written in English, Hindi, Bengali and Oriya were published in various journals and news papers of repute. He had authored more than 50 books out of which 48 were published. The subjects ranged from disaster Management, Anthropology, Environmental Issues, Renewable Energy, Ayurveda etc. he is well traveled all Indian States and most of the European countries. He was trained in Industtrial Cluster from International labor Organisation Training center at Turin, Italy.
