IT has been represented to me that very young boys often find it difficult to master all the details that are given in my history of India; and that consequently an easier text-book would be found very useful, in many of our schools, as an introduction to the study of Indian History. Such a text-book I now offer to the public. The present little work is in no way an abridgment of the former work on which it is based; on the contrary, some of the more important portions of the narrative are told at greater length and with no attempt at compression.
