History of the Mathematical Sciences

This book contains selected papers of the proceedings of the international conference on history of the mathematical sciences held at New Delhi from December 20-23, 2001. The conference was organized jointly by the Indian society for history of mathematics and Ramjas college, University of Delhi in collaboration with Indira Gandhi National Open University and Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Simla. It was the first of its kind ever held in India and covered all aspects of history of the mathematical sciences. About 200 delegates participated in the deliberations, including leading experts from USA, U.K., Canada, Germany, Luxembourg, Italy, Israel, Iran and Nepal, apart from eminent scholars from India.
