ABOUT THE AUTHOR M.L. Chibber

Hailing from the erstwhile North West Frontier Province, now in Pakistan, Lieutenant General Dr. Manohar Lal Chibber (Retired), Born in August 1927 is the senior most officer commissioned in free India. His brilliant career in the Army culminated in the Command of India's Northern Army deployed in a no war no peace situation against Pakistan and China. An Infantry officer, he held the most coveted appointments throughout his career. Was a member of the Expert committee set up by the government to restructure the Army; the Director of Military Operations; and the Adjutant General. Had the honour to command an Infantry Brigade in 1971 War. In 1953 he was the Intelligence Officer of the Indian Force sent on the peace mission to Korea. Has authored a large number of articles, monographs and books. His latest publication is "Military Leadership to Prevent Military coup." A frequent speaker at the premier defence training institutions he is also a visiting professor at the Pune University. He has taught at the Indian Military Academy as well as the Defence Services Staff College. He pioneered the establishment of the Army Institute of National Integration. A graduation of the Staff College in the UK he attended the National Defence College in 1971. M.Sc. from the Madras University and Ph.D. from the Allahabad University, he is India's foremost soldier scholar. Currently he is the Chief Executive of Management Development Institute, New Delhi.
