What business entrepreneurs are to the economy, social entrepreneurs are to social change. They are, writes David Bornstein, the driven, creative individuals who question the status quo, exploit new opportunities, refuse to give up-and remake the world for the better. How to Change the World tells the fascinating stories of these remarkable individuals. From the United States to Brazil, from Hungary to India, David Bornstein gives us stories of excellence from the nonprofit sector-JB Schramm, who has helped thousands of low-income high school students get into college in America; Veronica Khosa, who has developed a home-based care model for AIDS patients in South Africa; Fabio Rosa, who has helped bring electricity to hundreds of thousands in remote areas of Brazil; and Javed Abidi, who has worked tirelessly to get the physically challenged recognition from the government in India. How to Change the World shows that with determination and innovation, even a single person can make a surprising difference. This book is an inspiring read and an invaluable handbook: it will change the way you see the world.
