With the development of civilization the need of various types of resources has increased.  In primitive time population was limited and needs were limited, so resources were not so developed.  But with development of time a number of changes has come in our civilization.  It is called, ‘necessity is the mother of invention.’ It is a human nature who wants to spend more happy life and for the fulfillment of desires he projects his energy to do something.  A number of raw materials are available in nature but it is human efforts who make it useful.  As man development his skills, different types of mechanical devices were developed and today has touched the climax.  All the raw materials scattered in nature can’t be said ‘resources’ when it has some utility and functionality to satisfy the needs of man.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR P.L. Mishra

Dr. P.L. Mishra, born in a remote village of Puranchal got his early education there. He obtained his Post-Graduate degree in Geography from Agra University, Agra in Ist division and Doctorate Degree (Ph.D.) from Rohilkhand University, Bareilly. Besides, specialisation in 'Agricultural and Agro-industrial Geography' he has specialisation in 'Remote Sensing' from Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), Dehradun. he is actively engaged in teaching and research in the various field of Geography for over 3½ decades. He has done pioneer work in the field of Agricultural Geography, Agro-industrial Geography and Remote Sensing. He is currently working as a Reader and Head, Department of Geography and supervising research work Leading to the award of Ph.D. degree at Kisan Post-Graduate College, Simbholi, Distt. Ghaziabad, Chaudhry Charan Singh University, Meerat. He has Chaired Several National and International Seminars besides, presenting number of research papers. He has published widely. His publications include Textbooks and Monograms-10, Edited Volumes-4 and research papers and articles-35 in Journals and books. He was the consultant of Pakistan Scientific Journal, Karanchi. He has life membership of 6 Geographical societies of repute in India and one in abroad ie. "Applied Geography and Development", Institute for Scientific co-operation, Tobingen, Germany. He has been awarded Teacher fellowship, Research project Grants from University Grants Commission and Financial assistance from ICSSR and Dept. of Science and Technology, New Delhi. For research scholars are likely to be awarded Ph.D. Degree under his supervision.
