Human geography is one of the two major subfields of geography. Human geography is the study of human use and understanding of the earth and the process which have affected this. It is linked to both social science and the humanities. Human geography broadly differs from physical geography in that it has a greater focus on studying intangible or abstract patterns surrounding human activity and is more receptive to qualitative research methodologies. Human geography is both methodologically and theoretically diverse, including feminist Marxist, post-structural approaches, among others and using both qualitative methods and quantitative methods. The book simplifies the essential, ingredients of an explicitly scientific human geography to the point at which they can be readily understood by the beginning student.
