The essays deal with various kinds of human trafficking such as sexual exploitation and child trafficking, some legal aspects of trafficking and the state experiences in this regard. With case studies and including the perspectives of the various stakeholders, they throw light on an important aspect involved, that is, economic rehabilitation—providing alternative economic alternatives to victims and perpetrators of trafficking— as a human approach to combat human trafficking. They link sex trafficking with issues of health care and point out that the issue needs to be tackled by an approach that is professional, multi-disciplinary as well as involving cooperation of many agencies. They include perspectives on trafficking from outside India, presenting the situation in India as well as Bangladesh, the UK and other countries.
