Justice Mohammad Gholam Rabbani began his career as a lawyer in 1960 at the District Bar. He enrolled himself as an advocate of the erstwhile High Court of East Pakistan in 1965 and as an advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan in 1971. He was admitted as a senior advocate of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh in 1986. He was elevated to the Bench in 1992, In his several judgments he asserted the Judges' right to interpret anew the Islamic laws. Justice Rabbani is a life member of Asiatic Society of Bangladesh and Bangia Academy. His another work on Islamic subject is a one-act play, Last Prophet.
