ABOUT THE AUTHOR Buddhadeb Ghosh
Buddhadeb Ghosh has done his Masters from Calcutta University, training in Statistics and Computer application from Indian Statistical Institute (Calcutta), and Ph.D. in Economics from Jadavpur University under Professor Sugata Marjit and Tuhin Das. He has been working as an Associate Scientist in Economic Research Unit, Indian Statistical Institute, Calcutta. He has also taught at Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, West Bengal. He was a visiting post-doctoral research scholar of the Institute of Developing Economies (IDE-JETRO), Japan in 2003-04 for his work on "Globalisation and Competitiveness in Indian and Japanese Industires",. Apart from his Ph.D work on productivity, efficiency and technological change in Indian industry, he has contributed about three dozen papers in renowned peer reviewed national and international journals. His research areas include development economics in general, and productivity, technological change, infrastructure, regional economics, trade, institutions, agriculture, globalization, informal sector and environment in particular. His recent interest includes institutional evolution of the Indian economy, Japan and South Asia. Ghosh Extensively tours the country for understanding the diversity of the mystic land called India. He enjoys classical music, yoga, farming, and idleness in remote places.
