This book presents the Indian view on modern economic thought. The core thinking is based on the Indian tradition. It has been applied to modern issues. The central question is how do we make economics and society an instrument of self-realisation rather than that of getting entrapped in materialism. The book is not revivalist. There are many things in the Indian tradition which need to be changed in the light of new circumstances. It is probably the first effort of its kind. The book is a must read for all those interested in it.
