Presenting the views and visions of scholars, the volume deals with India’s economic growth over the years and prospects for the future. It gives diverse views covering different aspects of the Indian economy: issues relating to commodity trades, poverty, agricultural issues, liberalisation, energy, tourism, water resources, environment, higher education, credit cards and rural development. The articles examine the nexus between growth and poverty, water management and decentralised development in the context of globalisation. Based on field work and observations by experts who provide their comments on policy initiatives, the book analyses themes with reference to the scenario in the different states of India.
