Today national education is at cross-roads. While the general trend is still what was left by Britishers, some educationists are thinking in term of revival of ancient educational values, national history and value education. As this involved controversial issues like rewriting of history, critics have accused NCERT of saffronization and even Talibanization. Efforts at Indianization of education have been going on since Viswa Bharati to Vidyabharati. This book analyses the various present trends in national education. It tries to present all the sides of the present upheaval so that the reader may himself decide the required form of national education. Therefore it must be read not only by educationists, students and teachers but also by the politicians and social workers.
