When we think of renaissance and also Indian freedom movement, which is the culmination of Indian renaissance, we can see that Sanskrit has played a silent but significant role in shaping the ideals of Indian Nationalism. Indian renaissance and struggle for the establishment of an independent society owes its origin to the inspiration from Sanskrit and its allied cultural heritage.

Several studies have been made on different aspects of the contributions and philosophy of the leaders of Indian freedom movement. But no serious attempt has been made to study the contribution of Kerala Sanskrit poets in the history of Indian freedom movement. So the present attempt of the contribution of our great scholars deserves special mention and encouragement. I am very condiment that this work will be appreciated by the scholarly world as an important addition to understand the contribution of Kerala Sanskrit writers in developing patriotism among the masses.
