India is an advantageous position in the changing panorama of management, from one of pure economic culture to one of holistic approach, because of our religious and cultural heritage. The acquisition of wealth (Artha), developing a sadhanic personality (yoga), being committed to the truth and the right (Dharma), and believing in the almighty God as superior to man (Brahman) are all factors rooted in our tradition. Based on these, we can develop an appropriate management philosophy with a value system rooted to our cultural heritage, which could very well be the model of holistic management that we can offer to the whole world as India’s contribution to managers for facing the challenges of the 21st century.
The fourteen articles included in Indian traditions of management will, we hope, make to a certain extends, a qualitative change in the studies on modern management principles.

Dr. N.V.P. Unithiri is one of the few scholars who have been engaged in the deep study of various facets of Kerala Sanskrit literature for the past three decades. In fact, his efforts can be regarded as conplementary to the work of the pioneers in that he focuses his attention on many fresh areas left untreated or inadequately treated. The present work, which is a collection of eighteen research papers, deals with many fascinating aspects of the Sanskrit heritage of Kerala. Sanskrit has been a medium of creative expression of some remarkably brilliant poets; it was also a language of Kerala?s philosophical thought. In short, it can be stated without any exaggeration that the role of Sanskrit in molding the culture and lifestyles of Kerala has been versatile. Dr. Unithiri spares no pains in unearthing this vast output through his meticulously written papers, which are commendable for the rich insights they yield.
