Dr. Varalakshmi Janapathy is a product of Andhra and Madras Universities. She had a brilliant academic career winning a gold medal and eleven awards for her works. She is known as an eminent writer and for one of her books on the status of Indian Women, has won AP Sahitya Academy Award, Grihalakshmi Swarna Kankanas of Kesari Kuturam, Chennai, Kalaprapoorna from Andhra University, Durga Bai Deshmukh Award from Abhinandana, another Award from PS Telugu University and several other literary awards besides a life time accomplishment award from USA for 1999. At present, she is head of several organizations.
