"The book deals with the status and job satisfaction of women library professionals of university libraries. The work is confined to the university libraries of Eastern India, where there are women library professionals working in universities. The states include West Bengal, Orissa, Bihar, Assam, Meghalaya and Manipur. A combination of questionnaries and personal interviews were adopted in this investigation for the purpose of data collection. Each of the respondents of the sample was personally interviewed at her institution with the help of the questionnaire. In most of the cases the questionnaire was filled up by the investigator. The questionnaire deals with (i) Identification of work done (ii) Change in work (iii) Pattern of work (iv) Responsibility in work (v) Contact with people (vi) Informational aspects of the job (vii) Physical nature of the work and the working environment and (viii) Demographic particulars about the respondents in Indian context. The Data collected area recorded in specially designed sheets and compiled for tabulation. The tables were prepared keeping in view the objectives of the investigation and subjecting to statistical interpretations. Few of the important statistical techniques, which are already proved useful in social sciences especially in psychology and education are applied here for interpretation of data according to their suitability."
