The process of social change has always been a relevant factor in influencing the style of living and value of the persons. Both laymen and social scientists are concerned with this phenomenon. In developing countries like ours, it is a topic of central importance. Planning in our country wholly depends upon this process, which is influenced by various factors like education, occupation and structure of the society. This study was undertaken with a view to analyzing the effect of education and employment on marital role preferences and value-systems of Indian youth regarding family planning. In this book the role of youn men and women as prospective husbands and wives is discussed. It is hoped that the findings of this study will prove helpful to administrators, planners and also workers engaged in the important task of family welfare. It is also hoped that this work will open up avenues for research on this urgent problem of immediate social concern.
