The end of a century is a mile-stone in the history of a nation and its civilization. The century that has come to an end brought India its independence and hence led to a breaking away from the earlier centre and attempting to find its own identity. The literature of the latter half of the 20 century naturally reflects all these. We chose the last decade because of the interesting variety and number that is seen here.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Indira Nityanandam
Dr. Indira Nityanandam has been teaching English Literature and Language since 1974 and is presently Head, Department of English, Smt. S.R. Mehta Arts College, Ahmadabad. With a Ph.D. on Indian Women Writers, her areas of special interest are Indian Writing in English, ELT and Translation. Having Published many research papers, co-edited three books, she has to her credit two books-"Indian Women Writers" and "The Last Decade".
