ABOUT THE AUTHOR P. Venkata Ramana

P. Venkata Ramana holds M.Com. from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupathi; M.L.I.Sc. from University of Madras, Chennai and PGDCA from Avanti Computer Services, Hyderabad. He did his Ph.D. One 'Use of Information Technology in Central University Libraries in India' from Osmania University, Hyderabad. Dr. P. Venkata Ramana is Assistant Professor in Library and Information Science at School of Planning and Architecture, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad. He has rich professional experience of 20 years as Librarian in different institutions including Internship Trainee in American Center Library (1983-84), Chennai; All India Radio (1984-85), Cudappah; Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1 (1985-90), Uppal, Hyderabad and Directorate of Rice Research, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) (1990-97), Rajendra Nagar, Hyderabad. Dr. P. Venkata Ramana is a life member of several professional associations viz., ILA, IASLIC, SIS, ALSD, IATLIS, APLA and AALDI. He has participated in a number of national conferences, workshops and seminars and presented papers. He has attended several training courses on 'Information Technology Applications in Libraries' at National and International Institutions. Dr. Ramana has published more than 15 research papers. His areas of interest are Bibliometrics, Library Automation, Internet, Digital Libraries and Information Technology Applications in Libraries.
