It is the classroom teacher who knows it best (and suffers it most) what it is to face a class of bored, unwilling and unenthusiastic children. If teaching a group of energetic and motivated little ones is a constant source of joy and energy for a teacher, the bored faces of the school-children can equally dampen his mood. We, therefore, have always felt that a teacher’s job is very trying and extremely demanding. Possessing a large amount of information does not make you a good teacher. This is only a primary requirement. How you impart the information and make "your" knowledge "their" knowledge makes you a "teacher"; and if you are capable of making this process mutually enjoyable and stress-free and inspire the learners to learn more, then you qualify to be a "good" teacher. This little book ‘Innovative Teaching Through Games’ has emerged out of our years of careful observation of the actual teaching-learning situations in most of the Indian schools and our resultant realisation that the dullness, monotony and inactivity on the part of students prevailing widely can be removed and joy, enthusiasm and creativity can be promoted only through an intelligent and effective use of the games in classrooms. We have compiled some popular games and added some newly devised games which can enliven teaching in all school subjects. We hope teachers at all levels of schooling will find the contents of this second and revised edition of the book interesting and useful in making their teaching innovative. Instead of weaving intricate webs of theory, we have presented practical guidelines which are easy to follow and from which benefits can be instantly obtained by all teachers.
