Issues and Challenges of Sustainable Development in India

Department of economics Quaid e-Millath Government College for women, Chennai organized a National Seminar on Issues and Challenges of Sustainable Development in India held on 30th and 31st January 2012 in collaboration with Tamilnadu Economic Association. The seminar dwelt on five key themes, viz., agriculture, industry, finance, health, education and environment. Participants consisting of policy makers and well known academicians, the Government and organizations participated in the event. This book is the compilation of articles presented under the sub themes agriculture industry and environment, with the sectoral aspects of issues and challenges posed before achieving sustainable development of India. We anticipate that the articles would prove useful for policy makers to design appropriate strategy for sustaining economic growth in India.
