Dissent may be considered essential for healthy growth of democratic institutions. Dissent leading to demand regional autonomy, statehood and similar other conc3essins withink the constitutional framework of the country may be genuine hencek tolerate, but demand for separation and secession from the federal union is facing several such crises, of which Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Bodoland, and Gorkhanland issues, reflect some genunine grievances of the people concerned while Kashmir, Khalistan (Punjab), naga, Mizo and to some extent Assam issues are destructive hence condemnable.
