This book is the English translation of Olaf Schumann’s book Der Christus der Muslime 1975 (2nd ed Cologne/Vienna 1988), in which he examines how Muslim thinkers view Jesus. After surveying what the Quran says about Jesus and what a few prominent Muslim authors have written about Jesus across the centuries. In the first half of the book, Dr Schumann focuses his attention on modern Egyptian Muslim authors and in the second half. Dr Schumann presents to Christian readers a sympathetic understanding of Muslim views of Jesus to help Christians in their encounters with Muslims and enable them to develop some appreciation for their Muslim neighbours and their spirituality. The book is of value to those who are engaged in Christian-Muslim encounters and gives orientation about themes and issues on the agenda of Christian-Muslim dialogue.
