The present volume aims at charting out a profile of Kashmir’s ecology and environment. Nature has endowed the vale of Kashmir with an abundance of fertile soil, rainfall, and sunlight. The physiographic framework is superb. The pollution, deforestation, degradation of the soil and natural catastrophies are creating ecological imbalance. If not checked now this would bring misery and suffering and affect the tourist trade of the state. A humble attempt has been made to offer a collection of papers dealing with various aspects of ecology nd environment. An attempt has been made by scholars and experts to suggest measures for the cleanliness of the Dal, afforestation of the ctchment areas to prevent inflow of nutrients and sell into the takes, and steps to be taken to improve the sanitation, reforestation, soil conservation and to prevent the natural catastrophies. It is humble beginning and hoped that it will prove very useful to the readers who care for the environment and ecology of Kashmir.
