ABOUT THE AUTHOR Muhammad Yusuf Ganai

Muhammad Yusuf Ganai, Born on October 10, 1963, at village Audsoo in Anantnag, Kashmir, Dr, Muhammad Yusuf Ganai graduated from the Degree College Anantnag in 1986. He completed his post graduation in History from the University of Kashmir in 1988 and joined the M.Phil Progamme in 1990. It was just after the submission of his M.Phil dissertation that he was appointed as lecturer in the Department of History, University of Kashmir in September 1992. He was awarded Ph.D. for his work entitled Dogra Raj and the Struggle for Freedom in Kashmir (1931-1947) in 2000. Dr. Ganai has published several research papers on various aspects of Kashmir history. He has also presented a number of papers in various national and international seminars. Right from his twenties the author has been associated with various academic and social welfare organisations. Besides, he is a veteran trade unionist and is presently the vice-president of Kashmir, University Teachers Association.
