Colonial ethnographers and even Indian scholars are confused about the real identity of the Khulmis or Sinlung people inhabiting the areas joining Myanmar, Bangladesh and India. Throughout the historical period, the people were either identified as Kuki or Chin depending on the region or the country they lived in. As a result, all the Khulmis or Sinlung people have been passing through an identity crisis till today. Deeply aware of this identity problem, Dr. Joseph Suantak, a young budding scholar, here has made a bold attempt to study the Khulmi people: their cave-origin theory, migratory movement, settlement patterns, their socio-cultural interactions with one another during the historical period by combining multi-disciplinary methods of anthro-historical, bio-speleological and human genome-cultural mapping with a message of reunification with broader sense of unity and nationalism among the people under study.

In the present book, Dr. Joseph Suantak has illuminatingly revealed some fresh information hitherto unearthed so far and it is therefore a book which any serious researcher on the subject cannot afford to ignore.
