The theme of the present festschrift, which is the token of deep sense of appreciation of Dr. Velage Venkatappaiah’s contrigutions to the field of LIS in general and Public Libraries and Library Legislation inparticular, is Knowledge Management (KM). It is not a new concept but its technology dependence is of recent origin. The concept of KM is as old as Library. KM is to do more with people, their experience, knowledge and culture which would help them to share and use for the benefit of the society. In other words, KM is the process of creation, capture, organisation, KM is not a technology, but it is much more and is relevant to all activities in Public, Academic and special Libraries. KM suppliments and compliments the organisational initiatives like Total Quality Management, Organisational Learning and provides a focus to sustainable development of society. The volume includes 42 papers presented in nine sections.
