The workers' participationin management is a worldwide phenomenon to integrate or envolve employees in matters concerning them. The nature andextent ofsuch involvement as well as its process vary widely. By and large, workers' participation in management has not made the desired impact or achieved the results expected of it, due to a myriad of complex factors involving the attitude, the systems, the values, and the vested interests of the parties. As the concept of workers' participation in management is, however, basically sound, it has much potential and a future and institutions all the world over are anxious to be benefited by it. A serious attempt has been made by about 30 leading economists in the world to highlight the nature and scope of workers' participation in management of the enterprise, recent institutional development around the world, and pattern of institutional development around the world, and pattern of industrial democracy in this volume, in the second part of the book, the new forms of economic democracy and the experience of different countries in workers' participation in management are analysed. It is likely to prove extremely valuable reference tool to the economists, social scientists, policy makers and research scholars engaged in the study of problems oflabour-participatory economy.
