Although individualistic in his poetic thought and style, initially he was inspired by the romantic poets. He came under the influence of various literary persons including late Prof. Jaidev, Dr. R.S. Sra, Dr. V. K. Khanna and above all Dr. Som Ranchan with whom he had great interaction and association. He is a lover of idealism, world peace and universal brotherhood.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR Dharam Paul
Dharam Paul’s life has been a tragic but fascinating tale of human struggle against poverty, environment and even nature. He was born to poor, illiterate but good-natured parents on March 5, 1965, in the remote village of tehsil Sarkaghat of district Mandi (H.P.). After completing his Matriculation from a government school of his area, he came to Shimla where he had to do various odd jobs. However, he was selected as a clerk in 1985 in the office of the Accountant General H.P. and did his B.A. and M.A. (English) during this period. Later he did his M.Phil. He left the office in 1994 on his selection as a lecturer in English in a Plus two school under the H.P. Govt. His interests include literature and music. These Fifty one poems reflect his sense of idealism, life experiences, various ailments and complexities of modern life and a spiritual quest for the ultimate reality.
