ABOUT THE AUTHOR B.G. Fernandes

Boniface Fernandes studied Architecture and City Planning at the University of California, at Berkereley, United States of America. Former Chief Planner, Government of India, Mr. Fernandes was Urban and regional Planning expert with the United Nations Technical Assistance Programme in Saudi Arabia. His long Urban Planning career of over forty years has made him a well experienced professional in Urban Development. Mr. Fernandes has been closely associated with the School of Planning and Architecture in New Delhi, as a member of the Academic Council and as a Visiting professor. He was Secretary of the Delhi Urban Art Commission. He has authored and co-authored books on Planning in India and design for Living respectively. Mr. Fernandes was a member of the National Planning Commission’s Metropolitan Transport Team in the late sixties and a member of the National Commission on Urbanisation in mid-eighties.
