This book is written for the Mandi children of Bangladesh in the Ha’Beng language. There are many colourful and interesting folk stories that have been told through generations in Mandi history. Many of these have been written in the Ha’chik dialect spoken in Meghalaya, India. However, this is the first book written in the Ha’Beng Language. This book is meant to be enjoyable for the Mandi children with the goal of teaching them some of their cultural stories as well as learning to read the language they speak. Many in the Mandi society fear that their language will one day be lost. With this book, it is hoped that the Mandi children and their parents will develop an interest and desire to read their stories in their first language. This book is written in the Roman script, which is the traditional script used for all Mandi dialects. All Mandis have the responsibility to save their language so that it will be spoken, written and read for many generations to come by Mandis everywhere. This book is one small effort in achieving that goal.
